Penn, I hear ya man. I am from the Alamo town. The Alamo means something special to us down here. There was definitely some posing going on. But those were Alamo people at that “rally.” It’s one of only two rallies I’ve ever been to and I was on missions during both. I covered the Tea Party rally for a local online outfit.
The attendees weren’t militant–they were pissed. There’s a big difference. And there was a gay/lesbian group there, too. Don’t feel bad about being part of such a cool thing

I think it’s a very good to be fiscally responsible. And I feel very strongly that you cannot legislate people into being what they aren’t, so socially, I’m very liberal.
But these characters: Glenn Beck, Sarah Palin, etc. They seem to be pushing for a government that is none of those things. The so-called conservatives are not conservative with money – they have spent more than anyone, ever in ways that benefit only a select few. And socially? They aren’t at all about liberty.

People just don’t generally understand libertarians. I have been called an “ultra conservitive” by one liberal friend when he heard I was a libertarian. And I have been seen as ultra liberal by republican friends. I’m really neither, I just want people to have freedom to do what they will with their own lives. The govt wants to control people, but they haven’t the right. Period.
