Create your own DIY guide at www.howcast.com or produce your own Howcast spots with the Howcast Filmmakers Program at www.howcast.com We waste more water and use more chemicals in our bathrooms than any other place in the house! Here’s how to green yours up. To complete this How-To you will need: Fluorescent light bulbs Plants Low-flow showerhead Food coloring Natural personal care products Low-flow toilet Vinegar Baking soda Step 1: Switch your lights Swap your regular light bulbs for compact fluorescent lights. Not only do they use up to 90% less energy, they also last up to 10 times longer than incandescent bulbs. Step 2: Get a plant Get a plant. They don’t just look nice; according to a study by NASA, they actually clean the air of toxins like acetone and formaldehyde. And they reduce humidity, so you’ll have less mold and mildew. Tip: The best plants to rid the air of chemicals include spider plants, rubber tree plants, English ivy, Boston ferns, peace lilies, and any kind of palm. Step 3: Replace your showerhead Replace your showerhead. A typical showerhead drops about seven gallons of water every minute, while a low-flow one only gives off about half that. Step 4: Check your toilet A single leaky toilet can waste up to 100 gallons of water a day! To see

Instead of buying a low flow toilet, first get a soda bottle, 2 litlers and fill it with water/sand. Flush the toliet remove the top and add the bottle while its still filling the tank

They also can cause headaches in people who are photophobic. Since they have a different flicker rate than ‘normal’ bulbs. If you suffer from aura migraines, stay way from them. Still want to save money? Use small task lamps that can be moved. And open the curtains during the day.

So true… if that happens you actually need to call EPA to come and clean it up. You can’t just throw them in the trash either. The amounts of mercury are not that small, it is enough to do damage.
